Prime rib the best I ever had. Clam chowder was right on the money. Pan fried perch was the best I've ever had. As a cheese curd connoisseur I would say these are among the best. Plus you get a large quantity of them, which is rare in this day and age. Service was terrific. I would say that every thing was awesome during this visit. Oh, drinks were strong and cheap!

The best prime rib I have ever had. My partner and I were recommended the Nightingale on our first trip to DC three years ago. We make a trip back to DC every year now and plan our trip around eating at the Nightingale. Arrive early to enjoy expert cocktails and tasty snacks in true supper club fashion. We always do the prime rib sandwich. It's probably the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. I just can't speak highly enough of this local favorite. Best of Door County!

Classic supper club. Great food and drinks. The decor takes you back in time in a good way. Loved the pan fried white fish.

We stopped at WalMart to pick up our fishing licenses after gold. The guy @ WalMart recommended Nightengales. Phenomenal. Except they ran out of garlic mashed potatoes. The food was still fabulous though.

We called ahead to reserve a table. We arrived on time and were handed a buzzer and were asked to wait. They had crackers and cheeses to snack on. Everyone who had a reservation was asked to wait. Same for people without a reservation. We found it strange. After a 15min wait we got our table. It was Mondayand we went for their Monday Surf and Turf special. 32 dollars for 8oz lobster tail and 8oz steak, inluding a side and soup or salad. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The salad was ok, the lobster and steak wer great. Perfectly cooked. Not overly seasoned so as not to distract from the natural flavors. They serve the melted butter over a candle which I hadn't seen before. We got the food quickly. They also serve a warm bread roll which was also tasty. The atmosphere is basic to rustic. Overall the quality of the food was impeccable. The look and feel of the place could use a bit of modernization though and the reservation 'system' should either be stopped or taken seriously.

We came here for a pre Valentine's Day dinner. This is a classic supper club. We arrived at happy hour. The drink specials saved us about 30%. We ordered another to take to the dining room because once seated happy hour no longer applies. There was modern pop instrumental music in the background. The bar/lobby is adorned with photos of local veterans from WW1 to present day. There is also a tribute to Sturgeon Bay's name sake toward the back of the bar. The giant sturgeon sculpture sits all alone on top of a mini bar. Once seated we noticed an alcove with wine racks filled with various wines. The pictures on the walls had a maritime theme. The waitress was at our table immediately taking our order. I ordered the smoked whitefish cakes as the appetizer. They were remarkable, served with a sauce that was the perfect compliment. My wife had a very good shrimp cocktail. My main course was baby back ribs. They were falling off the bone tender with a tangy barbeque sauce. (Kind of reminded me of Open Pit) My wife enjoyed the grilled pork chops. They were perfectly grilled with nice sear marks on both sides. This was a good dining experience worth a return trip one day. My only complaint was the glass top they put over the table cloth. I suspect it is so they don't have to change the cloth between customers. It kept sliding around. If you go try the smoked whitefish cakes for sure. I could make a meal of those.

I can't move I'm so full! This quaint little Supper Club packs a whollup in flavor! The prime rib is to die for and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I drive from the Chicago area just to eat here! Stopped up this way for my birthday and this was the only place I'd go to celebrate. At the end the server surprised me with a creme brule as a present. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS PLACE!

we got the fish pan fried and prime rib sandwich and both were amazing. the fish was moist, tender, and flakey at the same time. prime rib was juicy and flavorful. we also got scallops wrapped in bacon. it was cooked perfectly. also, we got shrimp cocktail which was only ok. overall, it was a great restaurant with great service. definitely will revisit.

I'll preface this review by saying that I probably wouldn't rate this place with 4 stars if it were in a bigger town, but I try to keep it relative to what's available. Nightingales reminds me of an 'old school-type' supper club from the 60's. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that as long as it doesn't get too stale. Overall, the food & service were what the decor prepared you for . . . nothing fancy - just good old fashioned recipes and fairly large portions.
(4)Sam S.
Very good food. Classic sit down restaurant. Had a great Thursday night here. I had a beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly. Nothing but good things to say about this place.
(4)Anne M.
The Nightingale has it all - great supper club ambience, friendly service and wonderful food! A stop here is an absolute must. The prime rib can not be beat. It is better than any we've had in the Chicago area and a good value. From appetizer to dessert, everything is delicious.
(5)Brian K.
Good, fast friendly service. We liked the Friday fish dinner. Fish was moist and lightly breaded. Don't let the outdated decor reflect on service or food. Reasonable prices and good menu slection. Our best meal during our vacation in Door County. We will be back again.

After an inauspicious start arriving in town late last night, I was afraid I wasn't going to get a good meal in Sturgeon Bay. The Nightingale Supper Club put that thought to rest. Julie was great behind the bar - ask her for a Texas old fashioned. The salad was excellent and the prime rib with a flash sear with cajun spices was as good as any anywhere. Nice atmosphere and great food and service. *****

A local favorite. A classic Wisconsin supper club. Many locals come here for their popular prime rib. Monday nights are my favorite as it is lobster night. Lobster is really hit or miss with me but I really like it here. It is served with many side options and, of course, hot butter! You can get a lobster tail or surf and turf for a very reasonable price. TIP: Try the whitefish cakes. Don't forget to squeeze the lemon over them. They are awesome!
(4)Kim C.
I've had prime rib in at least 40 different restaurants and this is by far the best. Their flavoring is second to none. We make a yearly trip to visit family and always plan a Thursday prime rib special visit. I've also had their salads, which are very good too.
(5)Roger J.
Just exactly what you would expect from a place that calls itself a supper club. Good traditional supper club food at very reasonable prices. Drinks were also very reasonable. Ordered the 10oz prime rib and it was closer to a 20oz portion! Wife had the ribs and they were good. Service good. Like I said nothing fancy but if you want a good meal for a fair price this is it.
(4)Scott W.
What a terrific supper club! Welcoming staff, great food and cocktails, reasonable prices!! We'll definitely be back.
(5)Maggie B.
We stopped here for dinner while visiting friends in Sturgeon Bay last week. It was an awesome experience. We made reservations and showed up early to have drinks at the bar and enjoy the free appetizers. The bartenders were awesome ladies who were friendly and joked with us. The service was fast and friendly at the table as well. We had spinach and artichoke dip which was great and the fried cheese curds were a must have. The best part of the meal was the prime rib that I had. It was so delicious and paired with the garlic mash potatoes it was mouth watering!. This is was a great dinner experience and I highly recommend it when you come to town.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on our "Door County Vay-Cay" after reading some Yelp reviews that seemed favorable. We walked in later than I was comfortable with - 8pm (they close at 9), and I was expecting we might be a bit under dressed. Actually, there were people dressed even more casually, so I felt OK about that. It was a pretty intimate setting - so intimate that we got a full earful of both of the closest tables. One was a young 20-somethings couple that seemed to be on a first or second date. The guy was clearly drunk and was bragging about being a bartender and how he knew all of these drinks he was asking the waitress to bring. The other was a table of what appeared to be a grandmother, mother, and daughter, also 20-something. She was defending her weight gain to both women who didn't seem to have a problem with it in the first place. The furniture seemed very outdated, down to the plastic-covered "tablecloths." The boyfriend and I both were feeling carnivorous, so I ordered the Prime Rib and he a Tenderloin, both cooked medium-rare. While we waited for our entrees, we both had their soup, which was supposed to be crab and asparagus. While it tasted alright (the bf was more of a fan than I), the "crab" was the imitation variety, and the asparagus seemed to be canned based on its mushy consistency. It was also more like a chowder than a soup (very thick). The meat arrived: my boyfriend's was perfectly cooked (nice and bloody, cooler center), while mine was more done than I cared for (cooked through, hardly any pink except the last few bites). I don't normally order steaks out, but I had chosen to when I read the front of the menu that boasts the skill of the top chef and owner(s) in that department. It also wasn't easy to cut our steaks with the plates sliding around on the plastic on the table. In all, it wasn't the culinary experience I thought it would be. Maybe if we had arrived earlier...?

My family and I go here every year when we visit my grandparents, so fair warning, the 5 star review has lots of sentimentality attached. This is Wisconsin to me. The dark dingy restaurant, where the protein is good and the rest is just filler. Don't bother with the other menu items, just order the prime rib. It's always huge, and always delicious. It comes with a potato and a iceberg type salad. The perch is also good- but this is true almost every place in Sturgeon bay. They also have a little table in the bar while you wait with boxed crackers and liverwurst spread, so funny and so much a part of my memories of smelly lunchbox sandwiches the West Coast kids just did not understand. Love this place, love Wisconsin.
(5)Scott G.
Classic supper club. For what it is I think the menu is affordable and gives good options. Have an old fashioned and enjoy their complementary appetizers in the bar (yes, including Ritz crackers - see review below). But I say again, it's a classic Wisconsin supper club. If you know what to expect you probably won't be disappointed.
(5)Nancy W.
Five of us had a great dinner on our first visit to the Nightingale Supper Club. We ordered the prime rib, scallops wrapped in bacon, loaded potato skins. Everything done to perfection. It does take some time, so if you're in a rush, this might not work for you. However, I found the food to be well worth the wait and I would definitely go again.
(5)Craig G.
Traditional old school Wisconsin supper club. Started out with the Wisconsin favorite - brandy old fashioned sweet and sauntered over to the appetizer table which had toasted bread rounds, liver pate, cheese spreads, chicken salad spread, and others. Dinner started with the asparagus soup, fresh bread, and since it was a Thursday night the 18oz prime rib (their smallest cut); also had a side of vegetables which were a disappointment. The prime rib was the best I have had in the last 20 years.
(4)Jon H.
Truly disappointing. Shabby place. Appetizers: Ritz crackers and cheese spread? Soup too salty. Salad something out of a diner. Fish OK but nothing special.
(2)Kelly R.
Most of us have no idea what a traditional Supper Club is, but you really do understand it more once you walk into this place. You feel like you just walked into an old jazz club or speakeasy and where the windows should be, there is dark stained glass and really fun, old time-y ambiance. You half expect to see the cast of Mad Men sipping on Old Fashions in the corner. I think you come to this place more for the experience than the food. I wasn't overly impressed with the ribeye, which is what we came for. I'm also not a HUGE red meat, fan, so that's where I went wrong. We did have an appetizer of fried cheese curds, something you only find in the lovely Wisconsin!! They definitely didn't disappoint! It was a fun evening with good company, but I can't rightfully give it a better star rating when the highlight of my dinner was 4 fried cheese curds.
(3)Jenn T.
Out of all the restaurants we visited in Sturgeon Bay during our stay, this was officially my favorite. Best cocktails, food and service. I had a salmon filet that was out of this world. Highly recommend.
(4)Stacy M.
I love this place. It is not a place I'd frequent often, but every once in a while. Definately the old supper club atmoshpere, and great service. People of all ages, but mostly older, dark rooms, and great drinks. Wonderful old fashions and strawberry daquris. Awesome steaks and shrimp, not pasta. Served with warm soft bread with a crispy outside. And when you are sitting at the bar waiting for your table, they have a little snack bar for free till you can eat. Yummy. The prices are a little steap, but it is worth it. :)
(4)Brian F.
Best food I've had in the area. Their Prime Rib is the best I've had anywhere. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and fantastic food. Only wish they were open on Sunday's, but that's ok.
(5)Michelle H.
You walk in and are warmly greeted by two hostesses. The bar - off to the right - is a unique shape which features all the supper club touches - leather bumpers, Manhattans, a "snack" bar. Happy that the meal also delivered - great, great fish fry! More to come...

We were in Stone Harbor for whitefish through the ice. We were recommended to Nightingale Supper Club from numerous people. We were torn between here and another restaurant.... should've chose differently! The food is OK, nothing to write home about. But the Ambiance is snooze-fest! We were literally all nearly sleeping by the time our food came. It had the feel of a funeral home. If you are looking for ok food and elevator music I highly recommend Nightingales!
(2)Dawn J.
I've dined here a few times. I've had several of their Friday fish items, always good. The whitefish was great. I just love the pate and cheese spread in the bar! It's a Supper Club classic. Service superb!
(4)Tracy Y.
If I could give half a star, this review would be 3.5 stars. This was our first meal in Door County and we chose this place because it was close to where we were staying. We called ahead to see how long the wait was and put our name on the list. When we got to the restaurant, we still had to wait for a table, but they had cheese and crackers set up while you wait. I thought it was a nice little touch. Our server was pretty busy, but she was so nice and helpful. She's the reason I rounded up to four stars. We started with the cheese curds. They give you so many!! We ended up having to take about half of them home. I ordered the Friday night perch special and my boyfriend had the po boy sandwich. They were both good. The portion sizes were much bigger than what we are used to in Chicago. Overall, it was a nice meal to start our vacation.
(4)Rick G.
This is a great local "old school" restaurant. The service was accommodating and the food was pleasant. The restaurant seemed to be a local favorite as well. They also have great nightly specials.
(4)J. L.
Holy amazingness! I have to admit... We pulled up and I wasn't sure how it would be. We walked in and the appearance wasn't any more reassuring. But the food and service blew me away! We had the Saturday special of tenderloin and shrimp. It was one of the top 5 restaurant steaks I've had in the country. It was perfectly cooked and so tender. Don't forget to have some cherry pie while you're here. It's made from local Door County cherries. I hate fruit pies... really. But I almost licked the plate! The service was great! Chelsea was so nice. She checked on us often, but not too much. It's a diamond in the rough and should not be passed over.
(5)Kimberly O.
Very good supper last night! We called ahead to get our name on the list. We did end up waiting maybe another 15 minutes to be seated. The waitress was very friendly. We started out with some delicious cheese curds... Yum! ($8) The amount served was probably double of what I expected! My husband had the salmon ($20+) and said it was delicious. I had the soup and salad ($8). Their homemade Ranch dressing is fantastic... It's probably a good thing we didn't have any straws because I might have used one with the remaining dressing. If you are looking for great food, this is the place to go. If you also want a view of the lake, this doesn't have that. (But since they don't advertise this, you really can't expect it!)

We stopped in as a group of five on a Wednesday night, and it was somewhat empty, but it was one of the best Wednesday dinners I have ever had. Their Wenesday night special was Two chicken parts (I got a thigh and wing.), a slab of ribs, and a potato side. I got fries, along with a soup or salad with that, for only $14. Now let me tell you, that everything was amazing. The chicken was crisp, with a moist inside, and lots of flavor. The ribs where nice and warm, along with a nice sauce. The only complaint I had was the end ribs where a little burnt and hard, otherwise it was amazing. I had the most wonderful fries as well, tasted fresh and newly made. The last thing I had was a triple chocolate cake That was like nothing I have ever had. It was simply amazing. Frosting-like dark chocolate, milk chocolate base and another chocolate drizzle. The cake was like heaven on a plate. If you have enough room for that, definitely eat that. --Staff-- The waitress we had was very kind and energetic. She explained everything on the menu, and recommended things to us. She was simply amazing The hostess is from Minnesota, and she is also energetic and very fun. You can see her walking around, checking to see if we are alright or how we were doing. The restaurant itself is somewhat plain, but its atmosphere makes up for it. It had pictures of veterans from the military.

I can't give a review on the food here, but this review is for the service and the one star rating is only because Yelp doesn't allow zero. Three girlfriends and I decided to leave the city of Chicago for a weekend getaway to Door County. Our first day there, we ran into a lovely couple who was also visiting from Chicago. They provided us with a few recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Everything they had recommended had been spot-on...until we went to this place for dinner last night. After arriving for our reservation, being seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant, and kept waiting for an excessive period of time before receiving water and being greeted, our waitress finally approached us...to ask us to relocate to this shady looking table in the back corner of the room. Her reasoning was that she "made a mistake" in seating is there. I am very cautious about throwing out that hateful accusation referenced towards someone who discriminates against minorities, but here is what I know for sure: 1) The decor and ambience here is poor. There are no views, windows, or chef's table. "Premium seating" nor table requests exist here. 2) When my all African-American group walked in...(insert record scratch sound effect here.) We are used to being the minority in an establishment, but it was obvious that the patrons here are complete strangers to diversity. 3) The details of why seating us at this table was a "mistake," were not disclosed to us. Knowing all of this doesn't have to necessarily equal THAT, but they surely didn't give us reason to refute that assumption either. To be frank, it was only due to a raving recommendation from another Chicago visitor and the generous reviews on Yelp that we were encouraged to sit down and give it a shot after walking in. We couldn't see how, but figured the food had to be mindblowing. However, after being asked to relocate in this restaurant which was far from capacity, we decided that this business was highly undeserving of our patronage and our presence. They do deserve this rating though. Do better Nightingale.

Outdated decor but the food and service make up for it ten-fold. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. My friends had the prime rib and lobster tail, which were the "best he had ever had" and "amazing" (his and her words respectively). I had the BBQ baby back ribs which were succulent, falling off the bone with a wonderful, messy BBQ glaze. The sides were equally as good and served at an adequate time prior to the main course. Without a doubt, will be a return customer.
(5)Laurence K.
Basically the best Supper Club in Wisconsin The best service food and ambiance of any restaurant in Wisconsin Hands Down
(5)Tom G.
Monday night special -- lobster and tenderloin for $24. The best tenderloin we have ever had, ordered rare, which is often a disappointment, and it was perfect. Lobster tail came on top of the shell - lose the shell and enjoy the mean with drawn butter. Dinners come with salads -- excellent, and tonight a crab and asparagus soup, which was superb. Bar drinks are generous, and the bar is friendly and relaxed, although relaxed probably describes most of Door County...but they have a good bar with a full range. Best dinner in years, said K, and we had dinner at the Capital Grille in Milwaukee not too long ago. But then, we sent the steaks back because they were overcooked. We have never had a bad dinner at the Nightingale, but this was excellent. A nice Ravenswood Zin, but they could use a little more imagination in their wine list. The Napa Cellars Zin is great, if a little pricey. How about Chile or South Africa on the list?
(5)Drew O.
If you are looking for the old school supper club vibe, you found it. Vinyl seats, dark rooms, old folks, and good food. Stopped by for the Friday night Fish Fry which delivered exactly as it should.
